Designing Enterprise Search for the AI-Native Workplace
ICD worked with the client’s product team for an enterprise search product that could be pitched to large organisations looking to make internal knowledge easier to find, trust and use. The product was imagined as a search layer across company applications, documents, conversations and connected tools, helping employees ask natural-language questions and receive relevant answers from the systems they already work with. The design challenge was to make enterprise search feel simple at the point of use, while still supporting the deeper needs of permissions, source control, app connections, model choice, sync status and platform customisation.

Connecting Apps to Company Knowledge
Enterprise apps such as Drive, Calendar, Slack, GitLab and company knowledge systems is connected to improve search coverage. Flows were designed in detail to make data connections feel manageable, with clear app cards, sync states and setup visibility so teams could understand what was connected and what still needed attention.

Search Across the Enterprise
The search experience was designed as a clean, focused entry point where users could ask questions across web search, company knowledge and connected apps. Source toggles made the system feel transparent, allowing users to choose where answers should come from instead of treating AI search as a black box.

Customising the Search Experience
The platform customisation screens show how organisations could adapt the search interface to their own brand. Teams could configure the landing page, input box, brand, layout, search mode, chat mode, welcome message, icon style and AI model preferences, giving the product enough flexibility to feel native to each enterprise environment.

An App Store for Enterprise Agents
The AI Agents Store extended search into action. Instead of only finding information, users could discover and install specialised agents for finance, legal, sales, support or operations. Treated as an enterprise marketplace, teams could filter by industry or department and deploy reusable AI capabilities into their workflows.
